Blandine Bardeau

"I think I have always had a strong sense of the feminine within us but it hasn’t always been easy bringing it forward. For a long time I was trying to hide it because it wasn’t well regarded when you were told your art was feminine, until quite recently. I think it is finding its place in the world again." ARTIST BIO:
BLANDINE BARDEAU

Blandine Bardeau is a French born multi-disciplinary artist whose work is a playful exploration of the boundaries between the figurative and the abstract. Her feminine lines and intuitive experimentations has won her recognition early on in her career including winning the Louis Vuitton Bag Design Competition at Central Saint Martins and being featured in several publications.

“I used to draw the women much bigger than the men somehow, with big breasts. Often my people were naked, embracing. There was a sense of freedom in sexuality.”

Opening up new horizons of discovery, Blandine's practice is about freedom, letting go of our fears, and making space to connect to a part of us that we don’t usually allow to come out in our busy daily lives. The element of accident is central to her work creating endless opportunities while diving deep into the unknown.

"Many roads have led me to this point. It is a lot of work, a lot of self-inquiry, looking at something in the eyes which is not comfortable and I often have myself to fight against. Art is always pushing me to another edge, allowing me to access a much deeper layer of myself."
